Bottom Line Up Front:

The Razor MX350 is a fun little starter dirt bike, officially listed for 13+ yr olds but given its size and speed, it’s probably ok for even younger kids with proper training and supervision.

It’s best for light terrain and kids may outgrow it pretty quickly, but at about half the price of larger Razor dirt bikes, it’s an amazing value and a great way to introduce your child to dirt bike riding without worrying if the bike is too much for them.

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Motocross Dirt Bike Review

The Dirt Rocket™ MX350 is a scaled-down, electric-powered dirt bike that’s a fun way for younger riders to live out their off-road fantasies. While officially (probably inspired by the lawyers) listed as designed for 13+ year olds, many users report more than satisfactory results with younger kids – IF they’re ready. As always, no manufacturer’s recommendation, product review, user review, or any other input is a substitute for your own good judgment.

At speeds up to 14 mph (22 kmh), the MX350 leaves similar pocket dirt bikes in the dust. Large, knobby pneumatic tires deliver top-notch performance and maximum power transfer so that riders don’t have to stop where the sidewalk ends. The MX350 is fully rechargeable and ready to eat dirt hills for breakfast!

Razor MX350

11 yr old

Jena, Age 7

Razor apparently eliminated the rear suspension on the MX350 and the very similar MX400, which could make the ride a bit rougher on more rugged terrain.

However, given the smaller size of rider this is built for, that may not be that much of an issue. The max weight for the MX350 is 140 lbs.

Features of the Razor MX350

  • Quiet, chain-driven, single speed motor for easy use with no change of gears needed
  • Adjustable riser handlebars and large padded seat for maximum comfort
  • High torque 350 watt motor and large 12 inch pneumatic knobby tires to handle the dirt
  • Retractable kick stand and folding foot pegs for convenience
  • Handlebar rear brake control and twist-grip throttle, just like a real motorcycle
  • Up to 30-40 minutes of continuous use, up to 10 miles on a single charge!
  • Real performance with speeds up to 14 miles per hour

Other Specifications

  • Product Weight: 70.25 lbs
  • Assembled Product Dimensions: 44″x 24.5″x 31″
  • 24V (two 12V) sealed lead acid battery system
  • Rechargeable UL approved battery and charger included
  • Minor assembly required, tools included

Make no mistake about it: the MX350 – and all of Razor’s mini dirt bikes – are real mini motorcycles. Use all appropriate safety gear and supervise riders to make sure they’re up to the task. If they are, they’ll find that this model may be the perfect way to get introduced to motocross riding.

Putting the MX350 to the test

These two riders have some fun in their backyard jumping course:

This video shows that Razor is a family affair. Naturally, as with most videos like this, it has a nice, cheezy soundtrack, but it’s still fun. I think my favorite part is the little girl trying to catch up in her tricycle.

Things that are great about it:
  • Great introduction to motocross without worrying about high speed
  • Speed and size to match younger/smaller riders
  • Fast and fun, but not too much for most riders
  • Very maneuverable and agile
  • Legitimate off-road capability
  • Small enough to easily store and transport
Things that could be better:
  • Lack of suspension in newer models makes the ride a bit rougher
  • Still may be too much for very young riders, NOT a toy but a real cycle
  • Riders may outgrow this relatively quickly

These users found that the MX350 was indeed a great intro to motocross

This little motorcycle is surprising tough and handles really well! Our son loves it and it’s just perfect for parents who want more than a bicycle, more than the toddlers power wheels, but their child just isn’t quite ready for a gas powered dirt bike. We thought our Son may need some time to get used to the way a motorcycle handled, but he took right to it. Always be safe and use helmet and pads! Got a great price from Amazon.com, better than anywhere else and we looked for a long time.

R. Norton agrees that this is a great first bike:

My 5 year old son got this for Christmas and it has been the biggest hit! He is big for his age and was riding a two-wheeler when he was three, so it has been no trouble for him to handle. It looks like a “real motorcycle” and goes plenty fast for him! It seems to run for a good while on the battery, and charging is simple, thankfully! It seems very durable, but we’ve only had it for a short time, so can’t say longterm. But, believe me, it’s gotten plenty of use, so if it weren’t durable, I’d probably know it by now! Overall, great value and great motorcyle/toy!

Conclusion:

The Razor MX350 electric dirt bike is a very good starter mini motorcycle to introduce your child to the world of motocross. While the official age rating is 13+, most users found it to best sized for ages 6-10, even younger if they’re ready. Though they may outgrow it quickly, for those younger riders ready to hit the dirt, the MX350 deserves strong consideration.
