Bottom Line Up Front:

The Razor E300 electric scooter is Razor’s top of the line, full-featured standing scooter. It has the size and power for older riders, teens, and even adults, but yet isn’t too big for many younger kids. It could make a great first scooter or be an upgrade from a smaller model.

For not much more than the entry-level scooters, the E300 delivers a great combination of price, performance, and features that kids won’t outgrow any time soon. For these reasons, this is a best buy.

Razor E300 Electric Scooter Review

The Razor E300 is Razor’s top of the line, full-featured model, and as close to full-sized as they get. Rated for riders up to 220 lbs, it will handle pre-teens that are ready, teens, and even adults. It may struggle a bit at the top end of weight limit, especially if you’re on some hills or anything, but other than that this scooter should have plenty of power.

E300 Electric Scooter

Razor E300 – Blue

With a larger deck, frame, and tires, the E300 is ready for older teens and adults, while still being suitable for younger riders that have the ability to keep it under control.

As with other Razor products, many users find the official age rankings a bit high. But make no mistake – this has the speed and size to possibly get away from very inexperienced or small riders. Use your judgment and wear all safety gear, just to be safe.

Unlike the lighter duty scooters such as the E100, the E300 has rubber pneumatic 10 inch tires in both front and back. The polyurethane rear wheel does fine for the smaller E100, but a full-sized machine like this needs and has full-sized tires for its driving power.

Another point of difference with this model is that you don’t need to push off to engage the motor. Once you turn the power switch on, just twist the throttle and go.

All in all, the E300 is a durable, full-sized scooter that will provide you with speedy performance in a sturdy package. You’ll be much less likely to outgrow this one as opposed to other models – though admittedly this might be too much for the very young riders or those who just don’t need this level of performance. For those that do, though, they won’t likely be disappointed in the Razor E300.

Features of the E300 Scooter

  • Extra-wide 10-inch pneumatic front and rear tires for a smooth ride
  • Folding handlebar mechanism for easy storage and transport
  • Super-sized deck and frame for stable and sturdy riding
  • High-performance, variable-speed, quiet chain-drive motor for speeds up to 15 mph
  • Up to 40 minutes of continuous use, keeping you cruising longer
  • Hand brake and throttle on handlebar for intuitive operation
  • Accommodates riders up to 220 pounds
  • Throttle start doesn’t need a kickoff, just twist the throttle and go

Other Specifications

  • Product Weight: 52 lbs
  • Assembled Product Dimensions: 41″ x 17″ x 42″
  • 24V (two 12V) sealed lead acid battery system
  • Rechargeable UL approved battery charger included
  • Minor assembly required, tools included

While Razor’s age recommendations do run high compared to actual user experience, this is one case where they’re right about one thing – this scooter can definitely handle the older rider, up to adults. Riders younger than the recommended 13 do report good results – but make sure they’re ready and properly equipped. If so, this could be a great scooter – for kid and parent alike!

The Razor E300 in action – with bonus footage of the E100

This video shows a young man putting his E300 into action – with bonus coverage of his little sister, presumably, on the E100, so you can see the two in side-by-side action. I’m not sure why the video is so narrow, but it gets the job done of showing off both scooters.

Things that are great about it:
  • Excellent performance, reliable Razor quality
  • Ability to handle larger riders – even adults – but still ok for some younger riders
  • Full-sized frame, full-sized tires both front and back
  • Eco-friendly electric power on the wildly popular and proven Razor scooter
  • Adjustable handlebar to accommodate a wide range of riders
  • Pretty good battery power
Things that could be better:
  • Size may be too big for smaller and/or younger riders
  • About double the cost of entry-level scooters (but it performs more as well)

Real E300 users chime in on this scooter

B. Pierson wasn’t sure about the E300 at first, but is more than happy now…

I read every review before buying scooter. With some hesitation, i proceeded with the purchase. What a great gift for a 10 year old boy. I opened it up the day before his birthday, checked the chain tension, charged it overnight / per instructions, and surprised my son with it the next morning. My son is 80 pounds and this thing screamed for what seemed to be more than 45 minutes with all his friends jumping on that morning to take a lap around the block. Some of the lighter kids were making me a little nervous as they we going pretty fast. We also have a steep driveway, only 15 yards long, but he makes it up no problem.

I, weighing 180 pounds, have taken it out for a spin. On flat surfaces it moves along fine though with some incline, I can see how this might get a lower than perfect review. On a full charge, and some momentum I can make it up the driveway as well.

I guess if you are an adult looking for a scooter, go with a Go-Ped or Segway.

Proving that the E300 isn’t just all kid’s play, “mtmcintire” uses this to commute to work…

I have really enjoyed riding this scooter to work which is one mile away. I take back roads since this vehicle is not allowed on public sidewalks or streets. I always walk it across the main busy street.

The scooter works as advertised. It has good pick-up on flats. It seems to struggle just a little on any incline. I’m 154 lbs. Everyone who has ridden it has loved it. The chain drive is relatively quiet. It has great gas mileage…like none. I haven’t ridden it straight to see how long the battery would last. I’ve been able to get back and forth to work twice (1 mile each way) before I noticed a decrease in power. However, the low battery light didn’t come on so I’m not sure if the power decline was because I was going up-hill.

One thing that is hokey is that you cannot lock the handle in the down position. A screw unlocks it so you can fold it down, but it is not convenient to carry since there is no way to lock it down. bad design.

Also, the paperwork says the battery is good for about 250-300 charges. This might be less than two year’s worth of travel to/from work for me. I haven’t looked up the price of a new battery.

The only other thing that I’ve noticed is that the scooter has a strong smell of motor oil after riding it. I have to store it in the hallway during the day because it made my office smell like an old oily garage. I also notice the smell when transporting it in my car. I think it is the oil for the chain, but haven’t investigated it.

One note:  all rechargeable batteries only have so many charges in them – that’s just the physics of batteries. It’s true of batteries in cellphones, iPods, scooters, whatever. Such is life.

Conclusion:

The Razor E300 electric scooter is a full-sized scooter with full-sized performance. For those ready and trained, it can be a great first scooter that they won’t soon outgrow. Others may find it the perfect upgrade. Heck, at today’s gas prices you may want it to get to work!

No matter your needs, if you’re ready for this size of scooter then it’s ready to provide you with a ton of fun and performance as well.
