Bottom Line Up Front

The Razor E100 is an outstanding choice for a first scooter designed for the 8-12 year old market (but probably suitable for younger ones if they’re ready).

The E100 will give you solid performance for not much more than you’d pay for a non-electric kick Razor scooter.

If your child is looking for his or her first scooter or just a solid, light-duty scooter that does the job without breaking the bank for you, the Razor E100 would make a fine choice.

Razor E100 Electric Scooter Review

Pink Razor E100

Blue Razor E100

Blue (Amazon Exclusive)

The Razor E100 is a solid performer for the smaller or younger rider. Officially listed as designed for 8-12 yr olds, many users this electric scooter is a great introduction to powered riding or for light duty use.

For some, it may be their first scooter. Others may find it meets all their needs, now and in the future.

Larger riders and more experienced operators who want higher performance may be better served with other models, such as the E200 or the E300. But for younger or smaller kids, the E100 could be a fine choice.

The E100 is available in four attractive designs, as shown in these pics. You can get this electric scooter in Pink, Red, Sweet Pea, or Blue (a color exclusive to Amazon.com).

As with most Razor age recommendations, they tend to run a little high. A properly trained, equipped, and supervised 6 or 7 year old could handle this if they’re ready. As always, use your best judgment.

No matter which design you choose, you’ll get a high quality, affordable scooter.

Features of the Razor E100

  • 8 inch width and 18 inch length of the deck for comfortable operation
  • Parent’s Choice (R) award winner as a kid-friendly product
  • Hand brake and throttle on handlebar for intuitive operation
  • Adjustable handlebar adapts to riders of all sizes
  • Up to 40 minutes of continuous use, keeping you on the road
  • Motor engages with an easy kickoff to 3 mph
  • High torque motor to get you going as quick as possible
  • Max speed up to 10 mph, keeping younger riders safer and in control

Other specs

  • Includes two 12 volt sealed lead acid batteries and battery charger
  • Battery charge time 12 hours
  • 125 mm polyurethane rear wheel and an 8″ pneumatic front tire
  • Dimensions: Height: 36.0 “; Length: 35.5 “; Width: 16.0 “
  • Minor assembly required; tools included
  • Product Weight: 29.0 Lb.

This kid-friendly scooter is ideal for getting around the neighborhood, heading over to a buddy’s place, or even getting to school. It’s got enough power to more than do the job, but not so much that it will easily overpower younger riders.

Things that are great about it:
  • Solid performance, reliable Razor quality
  • Speed limits and size to match younger/smaller riders
  • Easy to assemble and use, lightweight
  • Eco-friendly electric power on the wildly popular and proven Razor scooter
  • Adjustable handlebar to accommodate a wide range of riders
Things that could be better:
  • Kids may outgrow it relatively quickly
  • Users have noted that chain cover can scrape ground during sharp turns
  • Rear wheel is non-inflatable, will wear a bit under heavy use

Actual owners rank this scooter quite highly

Ronald T. says that this is a great little scooter, even given an issue or two:

I purchased this for my 8 year old and it’s been a joy of his for quite a few months. It runs well, peppy and the battery seems to hold up for a very long time. He has had times in excess of 1 hr. riding around the house and driveway.  The only thing which is minor that annoys me is that when you corner very sharply the chain protector drags the pavement. No damage is done but it seems this part of the scooter should be higher off the ground.  Overly recommended for children of appropriate ages. Get your child one, they and you will not regret it.

Rebecca W. found it was perfect for her 7 yr old and even appreciated the required kickoff:

My son LOVES his new electric scooter! It is very easy for him to operate and it doesn’t go too fast, he uses it every day. At first we thought it was defective because after charging it, it didn’t seem like it was working. If you read the directions, you will see that you need to kick off a few times and start it while it is in motion. That turned out to be a nice safety feature because our 3 year old keeps hopping on it and trying to start it.

Another nice surprise was that we got the free shipping so it wasn’t supposed to arrive for several days but it arrived in less than a week!

Differences with other entry-level Razor scooters

Final note: this review admittedly sounds a LOT like those for the more common Razor E125 or the Razor E175. If you’re confused whether to go with those or the E100, don’t be. As far as we can tell, they’re all pretty much the exact same scooter.

It just seems that different brick-and-mortar retailers get different models (the E175 is found at Target, etc). Amazon sells them all, and I’ve tried to make the reviews a bit different (different user reviews, videos, etc) to give you a better feel for it. But the only difference seems to be the label.

Conclusion:

The Razor E100 (or the nearly-identical E125/E175) is a good choice for the younger or smaller rider. It gets you there fast enough to have fun, but not fast enough to be dangerous on the street or sidewalk. For some, this will be their first scooter. For others, this may be all the scooter they need.
